The Theatre Room meets up monthly for new submissions of plays. Writers, actors and directors must attend these meetings or contact a member of the commitee to request to submit their play for production. Only four out of all submitted productions will go through to be performed for the The Theatre Room.
Requirements for submissions:
- For writers, a two to ten page typed script, written as a one-act play, is required. If you do not have a script for the meeting, please come along with a prepared pitch.
- Writers are required to pitch an idea for their play to The Theatre Room group as a whole.
- If your script is chosen by multiple directors you must then choose from the possible directors who would like to direct your script. If your script is chosen by only one director then that is your director by default. However, if your script is not chosen, your play will not be up for production.
- Auditions for actors will be held at The Theatre Room meetings.
- Actors must come prepared with a monologue to read.
- Actors will be chosen by the director and writer of the script.
- Executive producers will be assigned to your play to make sure all pre-production is running smoothly.
- Directors are in charge of making rehearsal times, printing hard copies of the scripts and directing actors.
- A preliminary screening of the plays, to be viewed by the committee members ONLY, will be made a week before the actual performances.
- The committee members will put through FOUR PLAYS ONLY, judging by the performances, content and all round completion of the plays production.
